It was dark, and the road was cold.
The grass was white, and the wind was gray.
There was a river, cutting my way,
And the lady told me, my choices to the other bank
She said
“You can cross the bridge, if you want a longer trip,
The planks are shaky, and the rope tends to rip,
But the gold is all the richer.
You can take the ferry; pay the man with your life,
Sit down relax, enjoy the ride,
But you may find out,
The gold is a little light.”
So I looked at the tide, it was a little strong,
But I took off my clothes, and dived in for a swim.
I followed the current, and swam for days,
And I’ll stay, until the I see in shades of colour.
She said
“You can cross the bridge, if you want a longer trip,
The planks are shaky, and the rope tends to rip,
But the gold is all the richer.
You can take the ferry; pay the man with your life,
Sit down relax, enjoy the ride,
But you may find out,
The gold is a little light.”
